The Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem announced that more than 3,228 Israeli settlers, including Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir, stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque since the early morning hours.

The courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque also witnessed, on Thursday morning, dozens of settlers repeatedly performing what is known as the “epic prostration” in front of the Dome of the Rock from the western side, in conjunction with their storming of the mosque and chanting songs in a loud voice, at a time when the extremist “Temple” groups continue to mobilize their supporters with the aim of reaching a recording of the participation of five thousand settlers in today’s raids.
In conjunction with this occasion, hundreds of Israeli police deployed in the Old City and the vicinity of the Buraq Wall to secure the settlers’ incursions, while the Israeli police set up a special umbrella inside the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque to serve the settlers during the incursion, in a step the governorate described as unprecedented since 1967.
She added that the Israeli police allowed the number of members of each group of settlers to increase during the incursions to about 150 settlers, while continuing to impose strict measures at the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the vicinity of the Old City.
The Jerusalem Governorate reported, in a statement issued on Thursday morning, that among the intruders were also Member of the Knesset Nissim Faturi and Member of the Knesset for the Likud Party Amit Halevy, who performed Talmudic rituals inside the courtyards of the mosque, and also raised the Israeli flag during the storming, in a move that the governorate said represented a violation of the existing historical and legal status in Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The governorate confirmed that these measures are part of Israeli steps aimed at strengthening control over parts of Al-Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards, especially the eastern region, and imposing changes affecting the existing historical and legal status in the mosque.
